Skinny Fox Detox is a 28-day detox system created and marketed by SkinnyFoxDetox.
The company is based in the US and also markets a 14-day “Mini Fox” detox system.
Both options involve the use of the same two herbal tea blends—”Hello Gorgeous” (taken in the morning) and “Goodbye Cherry Pie” (bedtime tea).
The herbal detox tea industry is big business with many new brands appearing. Although some of the products you may read about may appear to be the next big thing nothing has really changed over the last few years.
How the Formulation Works
The body is exposed to toxins on a daily basis. These toxins may come from the environment (smoking, car exhaust fumes, etc.) or from the normal diet (free radicals in white bread, pasta, etc.). These toxins can collect in the body over a period of time and have a damaging effect on the health.
Toxins can also build up in the intestines, and the presence of so many toxins in the body can lead to a sluggish metabolism which may then result in weight gain. Skinny Fox Detox tea is designed to provide a two-part remedy for this situation. The morning tea is intended to rejuvenate the body, boost the metabolism, and provide extra energy. The night time tea contains the main detoxifying agents.
The Skinny Fox Detox Process
Preparation & Usage: One cup of Hello Gorgeous is required every morning. The tea is prepared by steeping a teabag in 8-12 oz. hot water for 10-15 minutes. If desired the teabag may be retained and used for a second time during the afternoon.
Goodbye Cherry Pie should be taken every other evening just before retiring to bed. On the first night the teabag should be steeped in hot water for 8-10 minutes, but the steeping time can be gradually increased (up to a maximum of 15 minutes) on subsequent nights as the body becomes used to the ingredients. Goodbye Cherry Pie teabags should never be re-steeped and used for a second time.
Other Stipulations & Considerations: Neither tea should be consumed on an empty stomach, but certain foods and beverages should be avoided throughout the detox period:
- Dark meats
- Fried foods
- White pasta/ white rice /white bread
- Fruits that are high in sugar
SkinnyFoxDetox states a 2-3 months break is required between 14-day detoxes. A 3-4 months break is recommended between 28-day detoxes.
Key Ingredients & Blend Potential
The Hello Gorgeous (morning tea) contains:
- Organic yerba mate
- Organic sencha green tea
- Organic oolong
- Organic orange peel
- Organic lemon verbena
- Organic lemongrass
- Organic ginger root
- Organic cornflower blossoms
- Goji berry
- Organic acai berry
- Organic ginseng root
No inclusion rates are provided, so it is impossible to accurately speculate on the blend’s likely potential, but yerba mate is stimulant that could help provide an energy boost. Green tea is rich in health-enhancing anti-oxidants, speeds up the metabolism, and is highly regarded as a fat burner. Ginger aids the digestive process, and ginseng offers so many health benefits Chinese herbalists often consider it a “life giving” herb. Goji berries are also a healthy addition. They are highly nutritious and one 14-day study, conducted in the US showed supplementation with goji can provide a feeling of wellbeing, improve gastrointestinal function, and enhance neurological/psychological performance. The rest of the ingredients look equally promising, but good results will depend on a sufficient quantity of each one being included in the teabags.
Goodbye Cherry (cleansing tea) contains:
- Organic Senna leaf
- Organic peppermint leaf
- Organic fennel fruit
- Organic orange peel
- Organic cinnamon bark
- Organic ginger root
- Organic coriander fruit
Senna is renowned for its laxative abilities, but experts warn it should never be used for more than 14 consecutive days. Peppermint can aid the digestion. Cinnamon may help lower cholesterol and regulate blood sugar levels, but is unlikely to offer much benefit here. In fact the blend is notable for the fact that it does not contain any of the most commonly used detox ingredients, such as milk thistle or dandelion. Fennel fruit is a particularly strange addition because no such ingredient exists. However, despite the fact that the fennel plant does not bear fruit, its root (bulb) and seeds possess diuretic qualities and may also help soothe an upset stomach.
The only customer feedback comes courtesy of the manufacturer’s website. Not surprisingly, it is all incredibly positive, but testimonials presented by such a biased source cannot be relied upon. Comments made via third-party sites would be preferable, but none were available at the time of this review.
Side Effects, Health Issues & Supplementary Information
People who have existing medical problems are advised to seek medical advice prior to commencing the detox process. SkinnyFoxDetox warns the teas are not a suitable option for pregnant or nursing mothers. They also suggest customers check the ingredients closely prior to purchasing and make sure the teas do not contain anything that may cause an allergic reaction. Any customer who experiences symptoms of sickness or diarrhoea is advised to stop takin the teas at once and seek medical advice. Female users who experience these symptoms also need to be aware such a reaction can interfere with the function of contraceptive pills.
Purchasing Options & Considerations
Skinny Fox Detox is only available via the manufacturer’s website. Each 28-day detox costs $58 (price correct at the time of this review). The 14 day “Mini Fox” detox comes in a little cheaper at $34. Shipping charges are waived for all orders delivered to addresses in the USA, but a $10 shipping charge is applied to orders despatched to Canada. A charge of $12 to $25 (depending on destination) is applicable to orders placed from elsewhere in the world.
SkinnyFoxDetoxs provide a 30-day money back guarantee. This should offer peace of mind to “Mini Fox” buyers, but claiming a refund for the 28-day detox may involve some hasty last-minute emails.
